I saw you in the morning sun, in the cold and frosty morning I saw I was my father’s son in the softness of your warning Take me down with you at the threshing time Take this hand I give to you for a warning sign Ten dead men on a bed of chaff and the sound of women weeping Ten men’s voices start to laugh like a devil softly seething Take me down with you at the threshing time Take this hand I give to you for a warning sign If I run I want to run with you, before the sun there’s nothing they can do We’re just two more faces lost, we’re just two more faces lost I know somewhere where the night won’t end, tell your mother that our lives depend That we’re two more faces lost, that we’re two more faces lost And if the headsman pays a call Or I’m up against a wall Don’t worry you won’t take a fall At the threshing time I cried out when they took his life as a flock of crows were scattered To know his name was to know the knife as though knowing was what mattered Take me down with you at the threshing time Take this hand I give to you for a warning sign If I run I want to run with you, before the sun there’s nothing they can do We’re just two more faces lost, we’re just two more faces lost I know somewhere where the night won’t end, tell your mother that our lives depend That we’re two more faces lost, that we’re two more faces I saw you in the morning sun, in the cold and frosty morning I saw I was my father’s son in the softness of your warning Take me down, take me down with you at the threshing time Take this hand, take this hand I give you for a warning sign If I run I want to run with you, before the sun there’s nothing they can do We’re just two more faces lost, we’re just two more faces lost I know somewhere where the night won’t end, tell your mother that our lives depend That we’re two more faces lost, that we’re two more faces lost And if the headsman pays a call Or I’m up against the wall Don’t worry you won’t take a fall At the threshing time

The hammer falls, can you catch it? Oh no, you let us down, you know A voice it calls, you were distracted Oh no, the reaction went wrong You were trading things Passing pieces down the line But you forgot yourself this time No lovers know No teachers know Open halls, full of faces for you Trust in truth, let go Got too small, couldn’t trace it Oh no, couldn’t place it, it’s gone Just hold the door, Take a moment, make a sign Or do you know the things you’ll find No lovers know No teachers know Just waiting for the tide to turn Just hoping that the fools will learn Sun follows storms Clear morning warms Come on come on love Pain’s a thing that you rise above. No lovers know No teachers know Just waiting for the tide to turn Just hoping that the fools will learn No lovers No teachers Just waiting, I’m just waiting for you Just hoping that the fools will learn

Riverrun 05:11
Lying where a river runs Bathing in the warmth of the sun Still I see the rising moon Saying rise for home oh too soon How can you go, when you know there’s something here with me? How can you say, you don’t know where you’re going to but you’re going anyway? Somewhere there cities rise Somewhere here something smaller dies It isn’t that I cannot move Just that I could never quite like you Dear, can’t you hear? Do these words reach your ears? Love, we’re not above This world Just one more small part of Can you feel the summer end? Do you think your heart is on the mend? For nothing ever goes, but comes again in time, The winter may return, but will it turn you mind? Oh no, no, no Dear, can’t you hear? Do these words reach your ears? Love, we’re not above This world Just one more small part of Don’t keep me running, don’t keep me searching Don’t keep me waiting, hoping you’re returning Don’t leave me here, don’t leave me alone Or if you go Running to the sea Please carry down this faded memory And wash it clean Dear, can’t you hear? Do these words reach your ears?

Miles 03:49
She likes talking after midnight when the air is getting cold I was watching with my eyes shut thinking of the miles still to go And I said, why don’t you take me home? She takes me to the other side, farther up the sandy shore She shows me something I’ve never seen before, tells me what I should have known And I said, I said take me home And when I forget the time or find myself alone I think about the waves there on that dusty shore For the water makes no sounds and there’s nothing live but birds And the memories I have don’t need words And I said, I said, take me home Come and take my hand, reach out for the roaming soul Look around the sand, listen how the wind blows Go and take a stand, there’s nothing left unsold Nothing to understand, nothing to reap when you don’t sow And I said, I said, take me home And we’re looking for the morning Feeling for the ground below Crowd keeps watching, eyes wide open But she says they’ll never know She says, she says they’re alone She said take me home Take me home She likes talking after midnight Watching miles as they go

Libertines 03:39
Hey there now Hey there now are you hiding from yourself Hiding out keeping in the dark You libertines chasing down the moonlight and the fire You dancing queen, there’s no one left to take a chance on now And the stars came out just to hear you sing I can still recall the last refrain It went lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie Slowing down Think you found a place you feel at home Reaching out, think you’ve made a start Careful now, you’re chasing down the dregs below the line The taste turns sour, don’t you wish you had some help girl now? And the stars came out just to hear you sing I can still recall, when I said You know I love you girl, and it hurts me that you’re crying If you are so sorry, then why can’t you stop lying? Like lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie Lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie Laugh about the tears girl, cry about the shame Let out all the love that you will never taste again Walk along your hometown road soaking in the rain Leave me to myself I can handle my own pain No more stars baby, no more stars for you I can still recall... Lie, lie, lie, All you do is lie baby, all you do is lie, lie, lie, all you do is lie All you do is lie

Once I Knew 05:31
Once I knew a girl, but she slipped right through my hands Turned my heart to sand on the shores of sinking lands Think of her from time to time like an imprint on my mind Mountains in the road, sun through falling snow Waking life’s a dream, a flowing, frozen stream The memory remains just a scar that still feels pain Tell my why it’s so that the ones you’d like to know are the ones you never think to understand Still there and yet long gone like the echo of a song calling you to sing along Dusty August moon shining through my gloom Diving down with me into the summer sea I cannot pull you through when someone’s holding you For true love never fades, it only drifts away Tell my why it’s so that the ones you’d like to know are the ones you never think to understand Still there and yet long gone like the echo of a song, like the echo Some can set you free Some can never be Some fall far from home Some touch cold as stone And the words you say never mean a thing no And the things you do girl, the things you do are everything Once I knew a girl Once I knew a girl Once I knew a girl The beauty of the world

Farewell 03:10
Time was never on our side And our decisions never coincide Maybe later in life we'll get it right, get it right Or were we doomed from the start? Will the distance keep us apart? Believe me the decision was hard And I'm sorry if I broke your heart. It's just that I can't be happy with someone else Until i'm satisfied with myself And you deserve the best That's why I'm working my way to success And so I need some time to be alone To figure out the world for my own So I can someday earn All the things that you deserve So Farewell Farewell, farewell, farewell Farewell, farewell, farewell Farewell, farewell, farewell Well sometimes life isn't fair at all

about

The songs on 'Farewell' are the culmination of our journey together as a band. Some were born in a hot, cramped garage in Costa Mesa, others grew from the various incarnations of the group, but all have become standards in The Kendricks' repertoire. Drawn from classic, folk, pop, and alternative rock influences, 'Farewell' is a self-produced romp, chock-full of odes to failed relationships and the crisis of human will, seasoned with oblique references to the laws of thermodynamics and the Spanish Civil War. The foundation for 'Farewell' and the upcoming EP 'Fire At Sea' were recorded over the span of two weeks at a house on a hill in the Temecula Valley in the winter of 2014. The final touches were recorded in various apartments and studios in Los Angeles. We gladly present to you our debut EP 'Farewell'. Cheers.

about

The Kendricks Los Angeles, California

The Kendricks met in Film School, developing their sound through live gigs across southern California in between study. Over time, they grew restless for music, realizing their passions were all in for noise. In Fall of 2014, they took the time off from school to focus on their music and record their album. ... more
